My experience with Aura was absolutely incredible! We got these drawings made for a corporate gift, and the likeness Aura was able to draw was amazing! They also allowed us to change and make edits to the drawing every step of the way. When it came time to print the drawings, Aura provided incredibly precise prints that we were able to blow up to 16'x20'. Even FedEx was amazed at the quality of the pieces, letting us not that they didn't even need to enhance. Thank you, Aura, for making such beautiful pieces!

Customer photo review of Turn someone you love into a comic character on their very own custom comic book cover

Aura was wonderful to work with and the artwork she and her team created is incredible. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the process but Aura made it easy and fun. The idea was to create a comic book cover to commemorate a surprise D&D one shot we played on my boyfriend's birthday. He is a comic book collector and when he opened this gift, he said it is the coolest thing he owns. I can't recommend Make Me A Comic enough for a truly special and unique gift!

My experience with Make Me a Comic was awesome! The team designed three comic book covers that we presented to our staff MC's at our recent All Hands meeting. The comic book covers were a surprise, and the recipients loved them. The Make Me A Comic team worked with me to fully capture the likeness of our 'Super-Hero' staff and were a pleasure to work with. I'd highly recommend them, and plan on working with them again in the near future!

What is a Custom Comic Cover?

A custom comic cover is a hand-drawn illustrated comic cover which includes the recipient, and perhaps yourself and pets as comic characters. We can base these characters on famous characters from comics, TV or film. Or, we can create them from scratch, taking inspiration from the people’s likes, passions, skills and job.

Superheroes are by far the most popular choice, we also draw a lot of villains. But we have also drawn characters from movies, anime, manga. There’s no limits as to what we can and will draw. Perfect to frame and hang up at home.

Unlike a standard gift, a personalized comic cover is built around your details — your faces, your expressions, your inside jokes, your shared history. It isn’t templated. It isn’t AI-generated. It’s drawn from scratch. We ask MANY questions to ensure the final result is highly personable to you.

Most people come to us looking for a comic cover gift for an anniversary or birthday. They don’t want something generic. They want something that actually feels personal and extra special. Our custom comic covers are once-in-a-lifetime gifts. Loved by everyone, not just those who love comics.

A Personalized Superhero Comic Cover

The most requested characters by far are superheroes.

Many comic fans have favourite heroes and villains, we have created so many Batmans I have lost count. Spiderman and Hulk are also firm favorites. But we love creating comic characters from scratch. This is where our creative expertise really comes to life. Remember we are comic fans ourselves, so character design is one of our favorite things to do.

Not Just Superheroes — Create Your Own Comic Cover

If superheroes aren’t your style, you can create your own comic cover in any direction you like. And your characters needn’t be the good guys, we love drawing super-villains also. But perhaps the recipient isn’t into the likes of Marvel and DC at all, perhaps we instead take inspiration from TV, film, music, cartoons. We can weave several characters together, we can take a character they created as a kid and turn them into that. Perhaps they work in IT and are a tech genius, well we could turn them into some sort of AI robot. Perhaps this is for your sister who is a really great hairdresser. We might turn her into some sort of hero with a giant hairdryer as her secret weapon. We can get as crazy and silly as you like. There are no limits to the ideas or our imaginations, this truly is the ultimate gift for any comic or movie fan.

A Custom Comic Cover Gift That Will Impress Anyone.

A comic cover gift works because it requires thought. You’ve taken the time to reflect on your story and turn it into something tangible.

It’s ideal for:

  • Anniversaries

  • Birthdays

  • Valentine’s Day

  • Engagements

  • Just because

Whether it’s for your boyfriend or husband, your wife or girlfriend, a custom comic cover is one of those gifts people treasure forever, it really is a luxury once-in-a-lifetime gift. It gets framed. It gets shown to friends. It gets looked again years later. PS - parents love custom comic covers too.

Perhaps instead you want to turn your favorite life moments with your loved one into a comic story, in that case you should check out our custom comic books and custom comic strips.

If you're buying for someone who's hard to shop for, explore our guide to gifts for someone who has everything.

Hand Drawn. No AI. Full Likeness.

Every custom comic cover is fully hand drawn by a professional illustrator. We don’t use AI or automation.

We work from your photos to capture real likeness — faces, hair, expressions, body language, even personal items that matter to you. When the comic art is finished when you say so, edits are unlimited. We promise that because we know we are good. The result is artwork that actually looks like you, not a generic template.

This is why our prices are higher than other custom comic companies. We don’t just regurgitate the information you share with us, we don't just trace photos, instead we get creative with your ideas and turn them into a compelling and engaging comic masterpiece.

Everyone on our team is a comic artist professional, this is all we do, day in and day out. But most important of all, we sincerely love it. Please feel free to learn more about us.

How Much Will it Cost?

The price is determined on the number of comic characters and the print size. Most comic covers have 1 or 2 characters on, and the smallest print size is 8”x10”. But we have cerated comic covers with 10 characters on and drawn it quite big, around 20”x30”. You won’t see this size offered on our website, we just show the more popular choices.

If you have questions about the cost and want to chat about your comic cover ideas, please do reach out. I, Aura Gold, personally answer all the inquiries. I love chatting to potential customers about their ideas.

How the Process Works

Many jobs start with a conversation. This is where you understand what your custom comic cover might look like and the cost. You will then purchase the custom comic cover and we will email you asking for more information. We will ask questions and request photos, the process is pretty thorough.

Once we have everything I will personally design your custom comic cover and then one of the artists on my team will draw it. Once complete you can request edits, things like text, colours and likeness to characters.

This process works really well. It’s easy and smooth and most of all fun. You don’t need to worry about forgetting things, or not liking the final artwork. We are so thorough and we have been doing this for so long, that every single custom comic cover we create is easy for every single customer. We edit until you are happy, but I have to say we have NEVER been in a position whereby we are editing and editing, over and over.

When finished, we email you high-resolution artwork ready to print locally. We will help you find a printer.

If you need your comic cover urgently, contact us first and we’ll let you know if your deadline is possible.

Get Ideas For Your Comic Cover

If you're still deciding,, these guides might help. They are all about our custom comic strips and comic covers, but they might help inspire you.

Ready to Create Your Custom Comic Cover?

We are always excited to hear from new potential customers, please reach out and say hello and share your ideas with us. Or if you know what you want, please go ahead and place your order.

We guarantee you that you won’t regret purchasing a custom piece of comic artwork from us.

How do I get started? What do you need from me?

Once we get your order we will email you asking you about your ideas. Each person/pet on the custom comic cover can be turned into a comic character, you might opt for superheroes, anime, fantasy, movies - the characters can really be anything.

You might choose to base the characters off famous characters from comics or movies, or you might decide to make up your own from scratch. For instance you could make up superhero characters based on careers, skills and passions.

We will also ask you about the background and title.

Don’t worry if you are stuck for ideas, we are a super creative bunch and will help you every step of the way. It’s a really fun process!

What if I want a different number of characters and print size to what is offered on your website?

We can create a custom comic cover with any number of characters and at any size. So send us a message with your request.

How is my custom comic cover created?

Your custom comic cover is drawn by hand, digitally. Once we complete the custom comic cover we will send it to you for feedback. You can make edits, usually it’s small things like text, colors and likeness to people.

All people, places and specific objects are drawn from photos that you supply, so everything and everyone looks like they do in real life.

How many photos do I need to supply?

This varies from job to job. We will request the photos we need, they will be of people, places and specific objects which are relevant to your custom comic cover.

Can I really make unlimited edits?

Yes you can, but there are some guidelines. When we send you the final artwork you can edit things like likeness, colors and text. You can’t suddenly decide you want a totally different character, well you can but that will incur a fee.

So as long as you stick to the original ideas yes you can have unlimited edits,

How long will my custom comic cover take to create?

Most custom comic covers are completed within 2-5 days.

But this also depends on our work load, remember everything is created from scratch, by hand…there are no robots on our team.

But we do meet 99.9% of deadlines, if you need it quickly, message us and we will see what we can do. A rush fee may apply.

How do I print my custom comic cover?

Once complete we will give you a high resolution digital file of your custom comic cover. Any local printer can print the artwork using that file. You will get a better result printing with a printer rather than say Walgreens or a grocery store with printing facilities. Shutterfly and Snapfish are good online options. We will help you find a printer.

You must print the artwork at the size we create it at.

If you have any issues with an online printer not accepting the file please get in touch, it won’t be that our file is incorrect, it is just that different printers have different requirements.

Tell me about canvas printing?

We use several different canvas printers from across the globe, each have been selected for their quality. USA, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia are all possible. If you live outside of these areas please get in touch and ask us if we can ship there. Canvas prints take anything from 2-10 days to be delivered, depending on location.

What if I don’t like my custom comic cover?

In all the years we have been in business no one has not liked their comic artwork. Our process is very thorough, we understand and communicate with our customers very well. Every single comic job requires some editing, this is normal, and we will edit it until you are happy. But remember we are comic artist professionals, you are in safe hands, we know what we are doing.
